While the USWNT had a disappointing World Cup campaign, former star Megan Rapinoe will go down in history as one of the best players in the team’s history. Rapinoe played a crucial role in the team’s success in 2015 and 2019, with Team USA emerging as the most dominant team in Women’s soccer.

However, despite her invaluable contributions, Megan Rapinoe was the target of multiple criticisms following USWNT’s exit from the recently concluded World Cup. Former US President Donald Trump, amongst many others, slammed Rapinoe for the team’s demise. Rapinoe, in a recent interview, shut down the recent criticism while talking about her love for the team.

Fans were expecting the USWNT to once again dominate their opponents and clinch their third consecutive World Cup title. However, to the surprise of many, the team put on a sub-par performance as they were knocked out of the World Cup in the Round of 16. Megan Rapinoe in an interview with the Atlantic, touched down on the recent criticism while talking about her memories with the team.

Donald Trump and Megan Rapinoe have had a long dispute with the duo, taking shots at each other following the drama in 2019. Rapinoe following the World Cup win in 2019 refused to visit the White House, which irked the former President.

Megan Rapinoe and Donald Trump have no love lost for each other. The duo miss no chance to take a shot at each other, with the former US President slamming Rapinoe for the team’s performance in the 2023 World Cup. Following the loss where Rapinoe missed her crucial penalty, Trump put on a lengthy tweet that saw him bash the player for missing the shot.

While Megan Rapinoe maintained her silence for a while. The player responded to constant criticisms as she mentioned that the lack of support made the team lose confidence.

The drama between the two has been a long-standing rivalry. While the matters have grown old, it does not seem like they either have any plans of waving the white flag.
