The Riyadh Season Cup means a lot more than preseason friendlies. Every loss and every win will receive extreme reactions from the fans. And who else can seize the chance to take a dig at his icon’s nemesis like IShowSpeed? Aka Speed, the YouTube streamer who is a diehard fan of Cristiano Ronaldo, went on a rampage criticizing Lionel Messi and his team’s performance against Al Hilal. The Argentine World Cup winner scoring a penalty kick as his second goal was quite something that the young content creator made extreme fun of.

Al Hilal, even though he can be considered Al Nassr’s biggest threat this season, has been spared the banter. As expected, it’s CR7’s nemesis, Lionel Messi, that Speed targets once again.

Inter Miami has opened their scoring in 2024 with three goals, yet lost by the tiniest of margins. That was enough for Speed, who mocked Lionel Messi and Inter Miami, saying, Oh my God, 4-3. You lost to Al Hilal. You lost to Al Nassr side. Bro, if you can’t even beat Al Hilal, you can’t even beat Al Nassr. And guess what? He scored a penalty.” The Youtuber’s statements also claimed that Al Hilal was a much easier opponent compared to Al Nassr. Nevertheless, Al Hilal seems to look at all the opponents in the same way.

Even Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr was not spared in the past. Al Nassr was slammed goalless by the team in blue in the last two official outings even with CR7 in the squad. However, Speed chooses to leave the past aside and focus on the future.

I cannot wait for two more days, bro.” The goals scored against Al Hilal could give the Herons more confidence. Meanwhile, recovering from a calf injury, CR7 and his army will wait to host the out-of-form Inter Miami on February 1st.

Despite being under Al Hilal’s radar, Al Nassr could be an equally brutal force against a struggling Lionel Messi-led side. But Al Nassr’s captain has not played a single game in 2024, which overall could play into a pretty even contest.

One take at a time

Growing up in a sporting background, I found a passion for soccer through the remarkable 2002 World Cup-winning Brazilian football team. Watching the Premier League where Thierry Henry-starring ‘Invincible’ Gunners and Sir Alex Ferguson’s glorious Manchester United had ruled, I had my heart set on Arsenal. However, Ronaldo Nazario, Rivaldo, and Ronaldinho are my favorite players and Lionel Messi is the GOAT.
