But he still didn’t get the amount of game time he was looking for. Things got worse when Erik ten Hag was appointed the manager. Soon after a controversial interview, his contract was mutually terminated by the club. Zlatan Ibrahimovic recently explained what might have gone wrong with Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United.

CR7 scored 19 goals in 40 appearances after his dreamy return to the English Premier League. The Al Nassr captain was among the highest goal scorers of the 2021-22 PL season. After his contract was terminated in the following season, he moved to Saudi Arabia for his next endeavor, which shocked the soccer universe entirely.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic recently gave a candid interview to British journalist Piers Morgan. Ibra was questioned about something that CR7 told Piers during his interview. Piers asked Ibra if he believed young soccer players don’t show enough respect nowadays.

The former United striker responded with a straight face as he said, “You don’t ask the young guys for respect, you take their respect and then you put them in their place“. Ibra stated that the young guys are earning so much money for so little as compared to earlier is another reason why they are harboring such a mentality.

The ex-AC Milan player further states, “Respect is not something you ask for, respect is something you take so it represents you. I have to make sure you respect me, it’s nothing you ask for”. CR7 complained that he’s not shown enough respect by the young players and manager Erik Ten Hag. One of the core reasons he left.

Cristiano Ronaldo wouldn’t have left England if things panned out well with Manchester United. He had no choice but to make a move and choose Al Nassr as his next destination. However, it seems like the move was a blessing in disguise for the Portuguese winger. The Saudi club too is reaping the benefits of having CR7.
