There are no days that are as celebrated as Mother’s Day. Everyone considers their mothers special, as fans and players have given them tributes on this day. So getting to the sports point of things, the NWSL league is home to several mothers in the league.

Famous USWNT player Alex Morgan, who plays with the San Diego Wave soccer club, scored a convincing victory against Patrick Mahomes’ Kansas City Current. Hence, with the Kansas City Chiefs superstar in attendance, Morgan scored the victory and issued a nine-word message. Fans just loved it!

Mahomes was in attendance with his wife Brittany Mahomes, and their daughter Sterling Skye Mahomes. Therefore, the two clubs are in different phases in the current standings, as Morgan scored the latest victory.

Morgan scored her fifth goal of the season, and Belle Briede also scored to give her first goal of the season. After the victory on Mother’s Day, Morgan tweeted, “‘ Mother’s Day Dub’ has a nice ring to it.” Morgan scored in the second straight game as she put her side in the lead. Currently, San Diego Wave ranks fifth in the season. As for KC Current, they lie in 11th. They have won just two games out of a possible five. Thus, with Mahomes in attendance, they hope to put in a better show. 

In January, Mahomes announced how he joined the club’s ownership group. He became the first active NFL player to have equity in a NWSL team. He stated, “I am thankful for the chance to join my wife as part of the Kansas City Current’s ownership team. Brittany and the Longs have done an incredible job building a world-class organization. I am excited to join another championship-caliber club as it continues to make history.”

For now, Morgan won the game, but KC Current has work to do to get back to winning ways. Hopefully, they can rally up and win their remaining matches.

The goal came when Sofia Jakobsson hit a shot, only for the Kansas City players to block it. After that, the rebound fell to Morgan, whose shot hit the post. Unfortunately, the ball ricocheted off the Current goalkeeper and went into the net. Since joining the San Diego Wave, she has scored 25 goals in all competitions. She wants to win and loves to play soccer in front of her daughter, Charlie. 

Thus, it became a day to remember for Morgan but one to forget about Mahomes. Ultimately, a win is a win, and the league moves on.
