The Bulgarian tennis professional Grigor Dimitrov spent one of the best seasons of his career in 2019. His five-set win over Roger Federer in US Open quarterfinals certainly brought him back into the limelight. And from World Number 53 rankings the Bulgarian broke into the top-25 column.
Recently Dimitrov signed a Franchise Player contract with Orange County Breakers. He will make his debut in the event on July 28, 2020. Orange County Breakers is a World Team Tennis (WTT) franchise, based out in Newport Beach, California. In December 2019, Maria Sharapova also confirmed her presence in the 2020 edition of the Breakers event.
“I’m excited to be back with the Breakers again,” Maria Sharapova announced her participation in Newport Beach in December 2019. “The competition in World Team Tennis is always strong and I am looking forward to playing in the team format again.”

It will be her ninth season appearance at World Team Tennis. In February, Sharapova announced her retirement from tennis and Australian Open 2020 was her last professional event.
Grigor Dimitrov and Maria Sharapova dated each other back in the year 2013. The Bulgarian initiated their relationship by sending an email to Maria. However, the pair split in 2015.
“Olympics is not in my plans” – Grigor Dimitrov
Orange County Breakers coincides with Tokyo Olympics 2020 dates. Olympic Games scheduled to be held from July 25, 2020, in Japan. It will be a two-day event, so clearly Dimitrov shows no interest in Tokyo Games. “I have not played in the Davis Cup, so at the moment the upcoming Olympics is not in my plans. I don’t see who I can help with the Davis Cup,” he stated a few months ago.
