Two phenomenal ladies Coco Gauff and Sofia Kenin are promising talents of American tennis, and their quality skills on the court assure a bright future of women’s game. Both of them locked horns recently at Australian Open 2020. Arguably, the duo is one of the budding rivalries in the WTA arena.

Kenin’s fourth-round matchup against compatriot Gauff gained significant attention before it got underway. Post her  6-7, 6-3, 6-0 victory over Gauff, Kenin shared about the challenges which she dealt with while playing against her.

“Of course, yeah, she’s 15. A little bit with the age difference. Of course, she has a lot of hype. She has a big name. Obviously she’s playing well,” Kenin shared.

We’re all supporting each other” – Sofia Kenin on Coco Gauff

She continued to sing praises of her compatriot, and before turning 16, Florida-resident Coco Gauff reached the second week at Grand Slams twice in her career.

On both occasions, Coco stunned the seven-time major champion, Venus Williams, in the opening round and her dream run was concluded by the eventual champions. As previously, she lost to Simona Halep in the fourth round of Wimbledon 2019.

“I’m happy she’s doing well. We’re all supporting each other. I try not to let that get in my head. I try just to block it all out, do what I do best. Yeah, I mean, the hype is for her. She’s obviously done great stuff, of course. It’s absolutely normal. Just try not to let that get in my head,” Australian Open 2020 champion Kenin added.
