“There Is Still Something Left”: Roger Federer Outlines Goals of 2021 Season

Roger Federer and his fans are eyeing his anticipated return at next year’s Australian Open. Having not touched his racket in the past ten months, Federer is looking confident of returning and playing at the top again. And recently, the 20-time Grand Slam explained what he must do to return in 2021.
In a conversation with his main sponsors, Uniqlo, Federer was asked about what is important for him now. The Swiss revealed that getting 100% fit is first on his agenda. Federer is craving to play the big matches and enjoy the crowd once again.
“Right now I would like to come back to 100% with my knee, with my body. And getting in shape and then be on the tennis court, I don’t know, enjoy the crowd and win big matches again.”

Federer also said something that will be a relief to all tennis lovers. He expressed optimism about his future and still has some top tennis left in him despite nearing 40. Great signs ahead for 2021.
“I am actually really excited to see what the future holds for my tennis because I think there is still something left.”

Uniqlo is a Japanese mass-market retailer brand with whom Federer signed a mammoth $300 million dollar deal for 10 years in 2018. Previously, Federer was associated with the American brand, Nike. Federer was with Nike for over two decades, but as he started nearing the end of his career, UNIQLO provided the best post-career options so he chose to switch brands.
Uniqlo is very popular in Japan and has Japanese icon Kei Nishikori in its camp as well. Federer had earlier revealed that he very much loves to design and select his match outfits and thus he is part of the Uniqlo designing team.

Federer’s partnership with Nike hasn’t completely ended, though. Nike supplies Federer with footwear as Uniqlo doesn’t manufacture tennis shoes. Further, in March 2020, Federer got back his iconic ‘RF’ logo from Nike. But since then he has not played, so the initials have not featured on his clothing yet. Let’s see if Federer dawns the logo when he is on court next year.
