Nate Diaz returns to action at UFC 263 to fight Leon Edwards in a 5-round clash at the UFC’s welterweight division. The Ultimate Fighter 5 winner took a trip down memory lane ahead of the event. The recent Run it Back video with Diaz is a must-watch for the fans.

“Yeah, this is just the beginning of it all. They wanted me to ride out in the low rider in Cinco de Mayo against this guy. But I wasn’t gonna ride out in no low rider. I think he did though. Yeah, I was just trying to make sure I never f**ked up.”

“Yeah, right here at this point in time there wasn’t people weren’t as skilled in jujitsu so I knew I would box a lot and I spar a lot with everybody, but I knew that if they got to the ground with anybody, it was done. Because I had a blue belt under Ceaser Gracie, and that was more than most probably black belt anywhere else,” said Diaz about his first appearance under the WEC banner.

Diaz also looked back at his run at The Ultimate Fighter. At 21, he was the youngest fighter on the show. Whereas, there were fighters up to the age of 35 as well. But Diaz says he had already lived in a house full of fighters. This included the likes of his brother Nick Diaz, Jake Shields, Gilbert Melendez, and more.

Diaz then looked back at his fight against Kurt Pellegrino in 2008 too. “Richard and Nick were yelling in the corner and they were freaking out and I was like hold up, I was asleep. Because the first round I lost,” said Diaz.

I ate too much after I weighed in and I was like overdone. I was like, went in there, felt like I’m gonna fall asleep, I went into the fight. He jumped on me quick and he was punching my eye a lot and then I was in a corner my brother, look how crazy Nick is here. My brother and Richard were like come on… Man, I’m like hold up! I like I just woke up let me see how this round goes. And then it started coming together for me… It worked out as great,” he added.
