It’s clear that Oliveira respects Poirier’s body of work thus far and is excited to test himself against ‘The Diamond’. Many consider Poirier to be the uncrowned champion and this is a notion that Oliveira will want to squash. As the belt holder, Charles Oliveira will want nothing more than to establish his legacy for the history books.
If he manages to dispatch Poirier with relative ease, the MMA world will begin to look at his career with a microscope. Not to mention, a win over ‘The Diamond’ would aid in boosting his stardom amongst mainstream fight fans as well.
