Anderson Silva is nearing his 50s and still has no intention to bid adieu to combat sports. Notably, ‘The Spider’ recently fought and lost against Youtuber-turned-prizefighter, Jake Paul on Oct. 29. The former UFC middleweight champion had a dream run in UFC that included the longest title defense and also the longest win streak. However, Silva once was on the verge of fighting another UFC star on the rise, Conor McGregor.

In a series of brief interviews with TMZ, The Brazilian revealed that he had accepted a challenge to fight the Irishman. While both the big names were ready to exchange blows, the only thing that was missing was the opportunity.

In the first of Silva’s interviews, the 47-year-old fighter then revealed that he was waiting for his next bout. Significantly, Silva recorded this interview after ‘The Notorious’ lost at UFC 229 against Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Thus Silva admitted, “I accept to the challenge for uh Conor [McGregor], you know.” Further, he went on to describe the problem with the potential fight. “But I think, Dana [White] need to think about this. You know, because it’s two big guys in this sport. Two big names,” the UFC veteran added.

Following this, Silva remarked that it was a super fight that transcended weight class issues. Similarly, the middleweight fighter stated, “I believe in, Conor needed, uh, fight with me… It’s not about money, Conor. It’s about martial arts challenge.”

Team Nogueira representative issued similar challenges and emotions after a couple of months. Also, the Brazilian fighter revealed that the dream fight was close to materializing. In addition, both the famed fighters would compete at 180 lbs. Lastly, Silva called out the Dublin-born athlete and added, “Don’t run man. Don’t run. You scared?”

The last such interview came almost a couple of days before The Spider’s fight at UFC 237 in Rio de Janeiro. While the Brazilian was hopeful of a win inside the Octagon, he also held high hopes for the fight against the Irishman.

Therefore, he advised the UFC president Dana White, “Come on boss. Give this show for the fans. Give this show for the big fancy UFC. You know it’s two big guys. Two big names. You know, it’s good money for you, Dana. And pure challenge for me and Conor.”
