According to Cormier, he doesn’t believe that there is a comparison to be made between Jake Paul and Muhammad Ali. He acknowledged Ali as the greatest promoter in the history of combat sports. Moreover, he talked about Ali‘s ability to talk and perform, and how his results matched his words.

At the same time, Cormier also disagreed with venture capitalist Don Davis, who believes that the 26-year-old is the best marketing promoter in combat sports since Muhammad Ali.

Cormier recognized Jake Paul‘s massive reach. In addition, Paul‘s reach is so big that he can help to boost the promotion of the PFL. He also mentioned that Paul‘s role is to elevate the profile of other fighters on the roster. Moreover, he has more followers and more engagement than the UFC as a whole.

Despite this, Cormier still believes that there is a long way to go before ‘The Problem Child’ can be considered on the same level as Muhammad Ali, given the latter’s impact outside of the boxing ring as a political activist, cultural icon, and philanthropist.

Cormier explains the difference between Paul and Ali

Daniel Cormier shared his expertise; he pointed out that when you compare anyone with Ali, you should expect a certain level of ‘kickback’. Specifically, in the category where Ali was quite dominant, being able to promote himself and his fights.

He said, “There was no one like Muhammad Ali. Every guy Muhammad Ali fought attacked him, they attacked him. They attacked him because he was so good with this. Jake Paul got attacked by me, but it was more annoyed at the time.

It was more of an annoyance, as to what is why is this guy here, why is this guy doing this?” He further added.
