If there is a list of the best strikers in the sport of MMA, chances are it features the two-time middleweight champion Israel Adesanya. With exceptional kickboxing experience, the Kiwi has made a very successful transition to MMA. Known for his sniper-like precision and excellent timing, Adesanya has dominated some of the best the promotion has to offer.
Apart from his performances, the Nigerian-born fighter is known for his expert breakdown of MMA striking. In one of his recent YouTube videos, he sat down to talk about his picks for the upcoming UFC 289 event. But amid his prediction, the City Kickboxing alumni ended up talking about the stand-up skill of the legendary Diaz Bros.

Diaz Bros are not just volume strikers, according to Israel Adesanya
In Israel Adesanya’s opinion, Diaz’s brother’s striking wasn’t just all about the volume. If he is to be believed, they knew how to set up precise strikes between the barrage thrown. This statement of ‘The Last Stylebender’ came in while talking about Eryk Anders who is going to face Marc-André Barriault at UFC 289. According to him, Anders striking is all about volume and lacks the precision of the Diaz brothers. He further added, while both brothers had those skills, Nate Diaz was especially good at it. Retired from UFC, the junior Diaz is currently gearing up for his maiden professional boxing bout against Jake Paul.
“Nick was good at it as well, especially Nate was Nate’s good at it. But he is winning, like when he starts to get on the roll, when he throws his combos together, he hits you, then it’s just momentum. But Nick was really good at it, volume striker versus a sniper. There’s levels to it. Um, and I feel like these are the same level of striking.”
In Israel Adesanya’s opinion, it wouldn’t be easy for the junior Paul to overcome Diaz, considering how he can ‘pick his shots’.
Over their decades-long careers, both Nick and Nate Diaz established themselves as the fan favorites in the sport of MMA. While both were known for their solid BJJ, they love to keep the fight standing. With excellent cardio and granite chin on their side, the two were known to use their pressure to wear their opponents down. The elder of the two, Nick Diaz, used this skillset to capture numerous accolades to his name, including Strikeforce and EliteXC welterweight titles. While Nate couldn’t replicate his brother’s success in title bouts, he has wins over big names including Tony Ferguson, Donald Cerrone, and Conor McGregor.

Jake Paul has a ‘different demeanor’ while training: Adesanya
Before dropping in his prediction for UFC 289, ‘Izzy’ also talked about his latest meeting with the Paul brothers. Recently, he joined the junior Paul on his podcast. But before this, Adesanya recalled meeting Jake Paul at a gym. If Adesanya is to be believed, ‘The Problem Child’ has a different demeanor there, being extremely focused at the gym.

Jake Paul is all set to face the ‘Stockton Slugger’ on August 5 this year. With this, the junior Diaz will become the 4 MMA veteran to face the YouTuber-tuned-boxer inside the boxing. Before him, Anderson Silva, Tyron Woodley (twice) and Ben Askren have also faced Paul. However, none have been able to triumph over him. On the other hand, Nate Diaz too comes in with his veteran experience, being finished by strikes only once in his 34 MMA bouts.
