It was a Saturday night to remember at the Omega Products International Events Center in Corona, California. In the highly anticipated lightweight boxing main event, Ruben ‘Ace’ Torres faced off against Cristian Baez. In addition, the fight was intense from the start, with both fighters giving it their all. However, things really heated up in round seven, when Baez made the rookie mistake of trying to touch gloves with Torres. Big mistake. Torres swiftly delivered a devastating left hook that sent Baez crashing to the canvas.

Here’s what they had to say:
One fan was not happy:
Replies know nothing about combat sports, fake glove touching is frowned upon and a dirty way to win points although it is completely legal
— Aaron Rafferty (@AaronRafferty18) December 30, 2022
Furthermore, some fan called it “dishonorable”:
Looks dishonorable, but once the bell rings, whatever happens in that time, protect yourselves at all times. Sportsmanship between combat sports happen only before the the fight, after the fight, or in between rounds.

A fan was not able to wrap his head around the whole situation:
Ehh its fair but God damn i would hate to win a fight this way. Id rather lose than win this way. This was hard to watch without getting tilted lol
— IMRAN.AK (@WHOISIMRANAK) December 30, 2022
Whilst one fan was totally against it:
That shouldn't be allowed, the fist bump is to get ready for the fight so how is it fair that bro just gets socked right of the bat?!
— ة (@GLOCKKAY17) December 30, 2022
Another fan called it “filthy”:
Not dirty, filthy
— Michael Wittmann (Michael) (@MichaelW1982) December 30, 2022
Whereas, some fans called it a “cheapshot”:
Nah, it’s a cheap shot regardless and of the rules
— Barkus 1863 (@martinbarker70) December 30, 2022
One fan dared to ask Barry Jones the question:
@BarryJonesBox what do you make of this? Fair or unsporting?
— Scott Avery (@Splodger82) December 30, 2022
And former super featherweight champion of the world, Barry Jones graced him with a reply:
Well within the rules, but a sly cowardly move
— Barry Jones (@BarryJonesBox) December 30, 2022
It also took the UFC Middleweight fighter, Derek Brunson, over:
Sheesh

One fan reminded us that it can happen to the best of us:
Mayweather did that to Victor Ortiz a few years back. I was so mad. https://t.co/3cMOZ65PSg

Back when Floyd Mayweather Sucker Punched Victor Ortiz
It was a wild night at the boxing match between Victor Ortiz and Floyd Mayweather, back in 2011. In the first few rounds, Ortiz showed off his agility and explosive striking skills. But even though he didn’t look like the weaker opponent, Mayweather’s world-class defense and movement helped him dodge most of Ortiz’s shots.

That is, until the fourth round, when Ortiz decided to headbutt Mayweather right in the face. This illegal move resulted in a cut inside Mayweather‘s mouth and a point deduction for Ortiz. But instead of feeling ashamed, Ortiz hugged Mayweather as soon as the fight resumed.

In a split second, Mayweather struck Ortiz with a left hook and right hand, dropping him to the canvas. Ortiz couldn’t get back up after the 10 count, and the fight was called off. Looks like embracing your opponent isn’t always a good idea in the boxing ring!
