Jake Paul slams Dana White for unfair minimum pay

We all know that the fighters who draw big in the UFC receive a good amount of money. However, Jake Paul claims that the smaller fighters are the ones who receive the short end of the stick. He stated that these fighters receive the minimum pay of $12,500, but believes that the promotion should attempt to make that at least $50,000. He said, “The fighter minimum in the UFC is $12,500. It should be at least $50,000.”

‘The Problem Child’ mentioned that the amount of money he suggests that the UFC should pay would make a significant difference. Some fighters are working other jobs, and the pay increase would let them focus more on fighting. Similarly, the pay increase would also help them afford the gym fees and proper nutrition. “If they made it $50,000, that would change the smaller fighters’ lives in a big way,” said Paul.

The 26-year-old did not stop there. He himself laid down some numbers to prove the multi-billion dollar promotion could actually afford to raise the base pay for lower-tier athletes.

Raising fighter pay minimum- Small cost for UFC

Jake Paul gave an assessment regarding the increase in the minimum pay for UFC fighters. He stated, “If they change the fighter minimum to $50,000 per fight, it would only cost the UFC $20 million dollars per year.”

While mentioning how the pay increase would help the smaller fighters, he stated that it is a small price to pay for the UFC, considering that they are earning billions of dollars in revenue every year. “That $20 million would be going into the smaller fighters’ pockets and it’s a world of a difference. Meanwhile, they’re making $3 billion dollars,” said the Youtuber-turned-boxer.

During the podcast, Jake Paul dispelled the notion that he harbors ill will toward Dana White. He clarified that his opposition is not rooted in hatred but a desire to see improvements for the fighters who risk their lives when they enter the Octagon.
