Ronda Rousey during her heyday was one of the most influential athletes. A pioneer in woman’s MMA, ‘Rowdy’ helped scale the division to unbelievable heights. Moreover, her dominant in-ring performance made her gain massive fandom all over.

However, after her first loss in MMA at UFC 193, things took a turn downwards for the former bantamweight champion. Rousey took the loss very personally and even revealed later that it had mentally affected her. Thus, she stepped away from the sport for almost a year before returning against Amanda Nunes.

Rousey made an appearance on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ and revealed what went through her mind after the devastating defeat. She shared that she had suicidal thoughts after losing her belt to Holly Holm. However, she combated that and made it through.

Sean Strickland hates Ronda Rousey

When Rousey revealed how difficult the loss was for her, many people appreciated her for being strong and fighting her own demons. Furthermore, since she had lost her father to suicide, it had made more of an impact. 

However, with the passing of time, the whole narrative changed and a lot of people questioned her weak mentality for considering suicide after a mere defeat. UFC middleweight, Sean Strickland shared his thoughts on the same during the ‘Food Truck Diary’ podcast recently.

In a conversation with Brendan Schaub, who once dated Rousey, ‘Tarzan’ shared his opinions.

Strickland began explaining why he “hates” Ronda Rousey. He said, “let me tell you why I hate Ronda Rousey. So [Ronda] Rousey goes on Ellen DeGeneres, you know, who is a know c*nt by the way… and she says that after her loss she thought about committing suicide.”

The host, Brendan Schaub reaffirmed, “after the Holly Holm loss?”. Strickland confirmed and continued, “and after that I was like you are the weakest f*cking human being I’ve ever met or I’ve ever heard speak after that I hate her. Like mental f*cking midget.”

The middleweight went on to explain that ‘Rowdy’ was one of the most loved MMA fighters at the time. Moreover, also one of the most famous ones, yet instead of being grateful for being in that position, she talked about suicide.

He cited examples of people suffering from cancer and going through chemotherapy. Thus, he was unhappy with Ronda Rousey’s previous statements.

Sean Strickland: His Instagram post described his statements

Furthermore, Strickland even took to his Instagram to clarify what he said. The fighter made a video and reiterated his thoughts. He also emphasized that suicide wasn’t cool and that it word shouldn’t be used lightly. 

The middleweight met with a lot of praise for his honesty altogether. Strickland, along with a lot of viewers seems to agree the fighter does not have a filter. However, a chunk of his fanbase looks forward to his candidness.
