The UFC’s 2023 season has gotten off to a rocky start owing to a number of unpleasant news making headlines. But on the aisle side, we have some exciting lineup that we can expect this year. However, it’s hardly a smooth ride, but that’s to be expected. The trilogy bout between Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman for the welterweight title seems to be put on the back burner following the latter’s hand injury. And with that setback in the way, it is rumored that Leon Edwards may face Jorge Masvidal next. This is something even Joe Rogan vouched for, and now, Brendan Schaub feels the same way.

The former heavyweight offered a very strong explanation as to why that’d be the case. And looking at things from the lens he’s presenting, Edwards vs. Masvidal is what we may get after all.

Jorge Masvidal emerges as favorite to fight Leon Edwards

Brendan Schaub believes the UFC may just onslaught announcing big fights to cover up their external affairs. And that pursuit may offer the fans some exciting fights this year. “I do think the UFC is gonna start announcing some big, big fights. Big boy fights. You can get the Jon Jones(fight), I think you’re gonna get, I think Kamaru’s hand is hurt so you’re gonna get Leon Edwards (vs)Masvidal.”, stated Schaub.

However, Belal Muhammad is one of the strong contenders to replace ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’. But Schaub can only hope for that, as he’s certain that it’ll be ‘Gamebred’ who’ll fill in Usman’s shoes. The 39-year-old said, “I am hoping Belal(Muhammad). Belal is my boy and that’d be a great fight. But I think, we’ll see.”And with all the injury-related stories circulating, Kamaru Usman’s matchup against Edwards is becoming less likely to happen.

Ali Abdelaziz rubbishes all the rumors

Abdelaziz wrote, “Please enough with the rumors, Kamaru is fighting León next, he is good to go. We bringing this belt back to where it belongs.”

That is definitely reassuring. But until there is an official announcement, every statement, positive or negative, has equal merit.
