Tony Ferguson is returning to fight for the second time this year at UFC 296. He will take on Paddy Pimblett, who last registered a controversial win over Jared Gordon at UFC 282. The 56-year-old had Cameron Hanes as the guest on the most recent ‘Joe Rogan Experience’ episode. They discussed the upcoming UFC 296 pay-per-view and how the card is stacked with some great fights. Thereafter, Joe Rogan mentioned that Paddy Pimblett would make his return against Tony Ferguson, who’s been training with David Goggins. He said, “Tony and Paddy Pimblett [at UFC 296]. Tony’s training with David Goggins, which is crazy.”

Joe Rogan believes that it will be an interesting sight to see if David Goggins can live up to the hype since he’s training ‘El Cucuy’. He mentioned how many people have given mixed reviews regarding Tony Ferguson’s choice of training with the military veteran.

“I am very interested to see Tony after he’s been training with David Goggins. There’s a lot of, like, mixed reviews about whether or not that would be a good thing or a bad thing for him… It’s interesting,” said Rogan. However, Paddy Pimblett is not impressed with Ferguson’s new method, and he spoke about it in an interview with ESPN.

Paddy Pimblett claims Goggins’ training method will not work in the modern era

Almost a couple of weeks ago, ‘The Baddy’ appeared in an interview with ESPN’s Marc Raimondi, where he opined on David Goggins’ training routine for his opponent, Tony Ferguson. Paddy Pimblett claimed that ‘El Cucuy’s training for the fight is a page out of the book of a fighter from the 90s. He said, “I think it’s just crazy. It’s wild… That’s like what people used to do in 1998 when we was on like UFC 41.”

Paddy Pimblett also mentioned that Ferguson’s training method is irrelevant in today’s times. Furthermore, he believes that the training regime is doing the 39-year-old more harm than it’s doing good. “That’s just completely irrelevant nowadays… You can tell by look on Tony’s face. It’s hurting him,” he added.
