After Sickening Elbow Dislocation That Shocked Even Dana White, Strawweight Istela Nunes Sends an Emotional Message to the UFC President and Fans

UFC Vegas 77 saw a nasty injury during the strawweight bout between Istela Nunes and Viktoriia Dudakova. Nunes snapped her left arm after the Russian fighter attempted a takedown. The fight was immediately announced as a TKO win for Dudakova, following which the Brazilian fighter was attended by medical professionals. Nunes shared a message for the fans and UFC president Dana White following her injury.

Istela Nunes was looking to grab her first UFC win when she came into the fight at UFC Vegas 77. However, things didn’t turn out the way she wanted. Debutante Dudakova, who boasts an undefeated MMA record, secured her first UFC victory in the most unexpected way. Nunes dislocated her elbow while defending a single-leg takedown by the Russian. The UFC has seen a lot of injuries lately, including Jamahal Hill‘s Achilles injury. However, this one was certainly one of the most gruesome injuries in recent memory. The fight ended in 30 seconds as Nunes screamed in agony. However, she shared an emotional message after the abrupt end of her recent fight.

The 30-year-old Brazilian claims to have received a lot of messages from her fans to check on her injury. She thanked them and assured them that she will respond to those messages once she gets back home. She said, “I have a lot of messages. Thank you all so much for your support and love. I’ll respond to everyone when I get home. Thank you to all my fans.”

Nunes also mentioned that she was feeling very good coming into the fight against Viktoriia Dudakova. She had been training hard and putting in a lot of work in preparation for the fight. However, things didn’t work out for her, but she promised to come back even stronger. “I have a lot of messages. Thank you all so much for your support and love. I’ll respond to everyone when I get home. Thank you to all my fans,” said Nunes.

Lastly, she thanked the UFC and President Dana White for giving her the opportunity to fight despite not winning a single UFC fight till now. Istela Nunes added, “Thank you [UFC] and thank you [Dana White].” The UFC head honcho himself had shared an X-ray of the injury and showed concern for the fighter

Dana White may not have been present during the UFC Vegas 77 event. However, he kept a close eye on the fights. After learning about Istela Nunes’ gruesome injury, the 53-year-old promoter shared a post and a couple of stories on Instagram to express his concern for the Brazilian strawweight fighter.

He shared an X-ray photo of Nunes’ dislocated elbow. It was completely out of place. Furthermore, he also shared another X-ray photo of the Brazilian’s arm getting put in place. Meanwhile, fans are still waiting for an official diagnosis of the Injury.

Fans are worried that the UFC might cut Istela Nunes from the roster after losing four fights in a row. However, the promotion has not released any statement regarding that matter. Although she’s winless, the focus is more on her well-being and recovery. We will have to wait and see what lies ahead in Nunes’ UFC future once she comes back from the injury.
