Alex Pereira Set to “Learn English” From Sean Strickland as Brazilian Announces Surprising Training Plans With Ex-Rival

The rivalry between Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira and their fights kept the fans and professionals glued to their seats. After continuously winning against ‘The Last Stylebender’, Pereira faced defeat in their last bout. Although the rivalry emanated great heat, Adesanya wasn’t the only fighter who had a rivalry with the ‘Poatan’. Pereira’s need to learn English and be able to freely communicate without the help of a translator has seemingly bothered him. He has set the sails to learn English from one of his former rivals.

In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, the Brazilian fighter declared that he would be learning the language from Sean Strickland during the time he would train with Pereira in Connecticut. Even though Helwani claimed that Strickland was a “bit crazy”, Pereira was ready to welcome his ex-rival with open arms.

In his recent talk with Helwani on ‘The MMA Hour’, Pereira discussed his rivalry with Adesanya. Thereafter, he disclosed that Strickland was coming to Connecticut to train for his next fight. Pereira said, “Sean Strickland’s coming to Connecticut next week for one week to train with me for his next fight.”

The Brazilian also revealed his desire to learn English. He said, “I’m going to learn English with Sean Strickland.” However, when he disclosed that he would learn the language from Strickland, it seemingly surprised the MMA reporter. Helwani claimed that Pereira’s former rival was a bit crazy and tried to confirm whether the Brazilian was okay with it.

‘Poatan’ replied that Strickland was always respectful to him and he was welcome to his home. His translator said, “ He’s a bit crazy. But, he’s a nice guy you know what I mean? He talked about a lot of these guys, but he’s always treated Alex very respectfully. So, he’s very welcome in our home.”

What happened when Strickland fought Pereira?

Back in 2022, Strickland and Pereira faced each other in the middleweight bout for UFC 276. Without a doubt, the duo showed immense power and competence from the beginning of the match. However, with only a couple of minutes passing after the commencement of the match, Pereira connected his left fist that knocked out Strickland in the first round.

Strickland is set to fight Abus Magomedov on 2nd July 2023. As per the former middleweight champion, ‘Tarzan’ would train for the fight in Connecticut with him. Furthermore, the ‘Poatan’ has also begun to get ready for his next bout against Jan Blachowicz at UFC 291.
