Former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor has recently posed some serious questions about the so-called GOAT debate. ‘The Notorious One’ has been one of the most successful fighters in the history of the promotion. His achievements inside the Octagon are not something to sleep on.
However, he feels he doesn’t get the deserved recognition for that. On the other hand, his former opponent Jose Aldo gets much more recognition from the fans in the case of the greatest of all-time debate.

Aldo has had a tremendous career, no doubt. He has been the UFC’s first featherweight kingpin. He joined the promotion as the WEC featherweight champion and made 7 title defenses before dropping the belt to McGregor at UFC 194. Aldo has faced some elite competition throughout his career and has defeated most of them.
But when the Brazilian faced the Irishman at UFC 194, it took only 13 seconds for McGregor to knockout the pound-for-pound king back then. It was an astonishing performance by ‘Mystic Mac’.
McGregor subsequently moved up a weight class and fought Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight gold at UFC 205. Once again, he put on a masterclass knocking out Alvarez inside two rounds. It was a magical performance by him as he put on a striking clinic on display.

McGregor’s featherweight accolades are his most celebrated achievements in the UFC. Besides that, he defeated Eddie Alvarez to capture the lightweight gold. It has been his only win at the 155 lbs division in the UFC. He has also defeated Nate Diaz and Donald Cerrone at the welterweight division of the UFC.
He has knockout wins in all 3 of the divisions he has fought in. It’s hard to argue those tremendous achievements on his part. But sometimes, he doesn’t get the deserved recognition from the fans. It can probably be accredited to his outspoken personality.
