Anthony Johnson spoke to Helen Yee and shared his candid views on the recent predicament Jon Jones finds himself in. ‘Bones’ Jones once again is feuding with the UFC over money and contract issues, much like last year. In fact, things have come to a head now as Jones has even called for his release from his contract.
Should he come to an agreement with the UFC, Jon Jones is the frontrunner to face heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou. However, that seems increasingly unlikely with each passing day, and the UFC may end up electing to move on. What’s more, Jones’ recent woes led fans to speculate whether his demand for more pay is deserved.

Anthony Johnson backs Jon Jones in his recent battle
Former UFC title challenger Anthony Johnson immediately sided with Jones when asked about the situation by Yee. ‘Rumble’ believes that the work Jones has put in for the company up to this point warrants a massive payday. He even goes so far as to quote a $10 million per fight fixed purse for Jones based on his accomplishments.
“I think he deserves every penny that he wants. I’m not in the organization anymore, so it’s not my place to speak on it, but I will say I think he deserves every penny that he wants. You know some people want to hold his past over his head. Some type of black cloud or whatever you want to call it.”

“He’s always going to have his haters, but at the end of the day you can’t deny the man’s skills and what he’s done for the sport and his accomplishments. He should be making, in my opinion, $10 million a fight by now…I do think the man should get paid what he’s asked for. Come to some kind of agreement, both sides can always meet in the middle.”

It’s hard to deny Jones, especially when looking at his reign of dominance against the very best in the sport. However, Dana White and the UFC brass have come out in the past and said he’s not a particularly huge box office draw. But looking at the magnitude of a Ngannou vs Jones fight, the UFC may be inclined to cough up the big bucks to make the bout happen.
