Dricus Du Plessis earned his much-awaited title fight against Sean Strickland after just 6 fights in the UFC. Since the announcement of the fight, Du Plessis and his chaotic fighting style have been a topic of several discussions, including the recent one on the ‘Joe Rogan Experience.’ UFC commentator Joe Rogan invited welterweight star Sean Brady on his podcast and discussed the effective fighting style of the South African.

‘Stillknocks’ is fresh from a victory against Robert Whittaker at UFC 290 and is ready to take on Sean Strickland next. The heated exchange of words and punches during UFC 296 has set the stage for an electrifying battle. With UFC 297 inching closer, Joe Rogan analyzed what made Du Plessis a legitimate threat inside the Octagon.

Dricus Du Plessis is one of the most fearsome strikers in the middleweight division and four out of his six UFC wins have been finishes on the feet and these are a testament to this fact. Nevertheless, Rogan feels more than his power, it’s his technique that is more deceptive and puts his opponents in trouble.

While speaking to welterweight star Sean Brady, Rogan said: “Dricus is f…king scary. That, and that’s a guy who’s so big for 85, by the way… Well, also that’s after he got his [deviated septum fixed], which I think is a big factor…”

The JRE host continued, “Dricus looks awkward when he fights. But that movement and awkwardness makes him difficult to time. It’s like his timing is off, and if you don’t have anybody that can initiate that kind of stutter step motion, that he does… It’s deceptively technical.” To which his guest Sean Brady agreed and said, “It’s his style, we can’t say it’s wrong. You know like, that’s how he fights.”

‘Stillknocks’ currently holds a record of 20-2-0 and shocked everyone when he defeated Robert Whittaker via knockout in the second round. While talking to Rogan, Brady himself admitted that he had given zero chance to the South African against the former champion.

They further discussed how Sean Strickland is not easy to take down. Rogan commented, “That motherf****r is very good.” The JRE host continued about Strickland, “He gets hit the least and he spars the most.”

Now, Du Plessis has another tough challenge in front of him as his next opponent is also a force to reckon with inside the Octagon, and the South African has to be at his absolute best to walk out as the champion.

It will be interesting to see how Strickland and Du Plessis will face off against each other.

The current middleweight champion, Sean Strickland, will face Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 297 in Scotiabank Arena, Toronto on January 20. ‘Tarzan’ earned the champion title after he defeated Israel Adesanya at UFC 293 via decision. Strickland impressed one and all with his performance and even dropped the former champion to the floor once during the battle. Much like Du Plessis against Whittaker, Strickland also went into the Adesanya fight with many not giving him a chance, yet took him down.

However, he will face an entirely new challenge when he faces ‘Stillknocks’ next. The much-awaited battle has already fired up after the pair exchanged punches during UFC 296 after Du Plessis commented on the champion’s troubled relationship with his father. The South African fighter said, “Bro, why are you so angry? You think your dad beat the sh*t out of you? Your dad doesn’t have sh*t on me. I’m going to show you what it’s like to get beaten. Every childhood memory you have is going to come back.” To which Strickland fired back and said, “I will take your f**king soul, you understand me? You f**king p***y… Yeah, you did hit a nerve, you f**king bi**h.”

It will be interesting to see if ‘ Tarzan’ can keep his composure during the fight and get the job done.
