Rivals, Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno faced each other inside the Octagon for the fourth time at the co-main event of UFC 283. Undeniably, the two fighters entertained the crowd to a great extent. However, things didn’t work out well for Figueiredo. Moreno was hailed as the UFC flyweight champion after defeating ‘Deus da Guerra’ in the third round with a doctor’s stoppage.
Figueiredo suffered ophthalmic injuries in the fight. Unfortunately, the fighter is yet to recover from the injuries, owing to which, he lost his fight against Manel Kape. The fight was scheduled for UFC 290. But, the Brazilian mixed martial artist is still on the road to recovery. The flyweight fighter told ‘MMAFighting’ that he had to take six months of medical suspension. Nevertheless, he simply isn’t one to back away from the Octagon. Even though Kape wasn’t his next opponent, Figueiredo didn’t shy away from asking for another opponent.

‘Deus da Guerra’ said, “I’m still injured. I asked for a fight, told my manager I wanted to fight already, but when he gave me the fight and I talked to my physical therapist and my ophthalmologist, [they said] my eyesight is still not 100 percent.”
Furthermore, the Brazilian fighter declared that he would take up the six months medical suspension. He said, “There are days I see things normal, but there are days it’s not OK, especially the days after I train, so they decided I had to go the full six-month [medical suspension] the ophthalmologist gave me [after UFC 283].”

Whom does Figueiredo intend to fight?
Figueiredo later revealed a few names that he wished to go against inside the Octagon as a replacement for Kape. He believed that Kai Kara-France and Brandon Royal were ideal opponents for him. However, the fact that Kara-France had another fight booked seemingly upset him.
Nevertheless, Figueiredo seemed to believe that as the #1 flyweight fighter, he deserved to choose his opponents. Although he did not demand a title shot, he asked his manager for someone in the top 5.
