Conor McGregor and Tony Ferguson are undoubtedly two top lightweights in the world. One might argue McGregor’s record at the 155lbs division of the UFC is negative, but ‘The Notorious’ one hasn’t fought in the division during his best years.
What’s more, Ferguson is currently on a skid. However, ‘El Cucuy’ is arguably the scariest fighter in the UFC’s lightweight division.
So, there is no doubt the fight between the duo would be a barn-burner. It was also discussed numerous times after McGregor became the lightweight champion by defeating Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205.

But it never happened. However, one can’t help but think how that fight would have played out if McGregor and Ferguson actually fought.
Ferguson is a unique fighter who thrives in chaos. He doesn’t mind taking a hit in order to give one back to his opponent. But that might be a recipe for disaster against someone like McGregor.
The Irishman is a knockout artist. His power, precision, and timing are impeccable. His opponents seem to fold once they get hit by that left hand.
But Ferguson’s uncanny ability to absorb damage can play a part as well. That doubled with his endurance and insane cardio can very well overwhelm the former 2-division champion if ‘El Cucuy’ can get past the first few rounds.
Will Tony Ferguson vs Conor McGregor ever happen?
Ferguson has one eye on redemption as he fights Beneil Dariush at UFC 262. ‘El Cucuy’ will be determined to return to winning ways.

Meanwhile, if Ferguson can get one or two more wins under his belt, he will be up for a shot at the title as well. It would be unjust if ‘El Cucuy‘ never gets the opportunity considering all that he has done in his career. So, a fight between McGregor and Ferguson could very well take place in the near future, or at least fans can hope so.
