UFC PPV monster Conor McGregor will finally return to the octagon in his comeback fight against Michael Chandler. He hasn’t fought since getting injured in his fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264, which he lost. Moreover, UFC heavyweight fighter Ciryl Gane‘s coach, Fernand Lopez, doesn’t believe that the Irishman will win his comeback fight.

Conor McGregor has been recuperating from his leg injury for almost two years now. However, he has shown remarkable progress and even transformed his physique. The former two-division champion has added a considerable amount of muscle during his time away from the octagon. UFC president Dana White also confirmed that he will be appearing in the 31st season of ‘The Ultimate Fighter’, opposite ‘Iron’ Chandler. The fight will most likely take place at 170 pounds.

White also confirmed that McGregor and Chandler will be fighting at the end of the season of UFC’s reality TV series. Many are expecting the Irishman to win. But Ciryl Gane‘s coach, Fernand Lopez, has other opinions.

Cyril Gane’s coach believes Conor McGregor is in the twilight stages of his MMA career

Lopez recently spoke about the upcoming clash between Michael Chandler and Conor McGregor. The French MMA coach thinks that ‘Iron’ is a tough fight for the Irishman. He said, “I don’t see a decision. Honestly, I would like Conor to win, but I think he’s going to get hurt.” He mentioned that McGregor is an important asset to MMA and said, “The sport needs Conor, but it’s hard to control this guy’s storm.”

Lopez then stated that ‘Mystic Mac’ cannot take a hit anymore due to his age. “Conor doesn’t have a good chin anymore, Conor is aging, Conor is fragile,” said Ciryl Gane‘s coach. He also stated that Michael Chandler can take more blows than the former UFC champion. Lopez said, “We have to tell the truth. Michael Chandler takes too many blows.”

Fernand Lopez believes that Conor McGregor needs to rely on his technique to win his comeback fight, or else he won’t win the fight. “With his precision, if Conor still has a little bit of timing, maybe that he can clip it. But I think it’s tough,” said Lopez. He further added, “I’m going off on a big knockout from Chandler.”

The fight with ‘Iron’ Chandler will perhaps decide the trajectory of Conor McGregor‘s MMA career. He hasn’t won a fight in three years. McGregor’s last win came against Donald Cerrone at UFC 246. Fernando Lopez thinks that McGregor deserves to earn a title shot if he defeats Michael Chandler on his return to the octagon.
