Leon Edwards believes a Conor McGregor title shot negotiation would be ‘easy’. ‘The Notorious’ has returned to MMA training. The Irish star has been putting out grappling, boxing, and other training footage on his social media accounts.

McGregor is getting praise from the MMA fraternity for his distinguished form in both the ‘gentle art’ and ‘sweet science’ chiefly after recovering from a brutal injury.

Now, with a possible return early next year, multiple matchups are being talked about by UFC fans and analysts. Recently, Conor McGregor confirmed his return will be at 170 lbs.

The British 170 lbs UFC champion discussed the matchup in the latest interview with talkSPORT.

The welterweight champion made his stance clear that his attention is on the Kamaru Usman trilogy fight. However, he also commented about a possible money fight with ‘The Notorious‘.

“Conor McGregor and me have the same manager. It would be easy to make if that was to happen,” Leon Edwards said.

This matchup has not been talked about enough in the MMA space for the obvious reason, as McGregor is 1-3 in his last four fights. However, the highest-paid UFC athlete has found his way into title fights before.

The new welterweight champion wants to give the former long-reigning champion (‘The Nigerian Nightmare’) his respect with the trilogy fight. That said, Edwards offered, “I don’t mind after Usman, anyone can get it.”

Is Leon Edwards the most winnable matchup for ‘The Notorious’?

The Irish striker is showing his jiujitsu and grappling skills in the short clips he is putting on the Internet. However, in a matchup against Leon ‘Rocky’ Edwards, he might not require it.

Coming from the UK, Leon Edwards started showing his crisp boxing skills in the UFC welterweight division. Although, fighting in the promotion for a long time and losing the first contest against Kamaru Usman, ‘Rocky’ leveled up his grappling skills as well.

Thus, avoiding Colby Covington, Kamaru Usman, Khamzat Chimaev, and Gilbert Burns if ‘The Notorious’ could get a title shot against Leon Edwards, it seems like the best scenario for him, considering the depth of 170 lbs division.
