The FIFA World Cup 2022 final is almost here and Conor McGregor is among those hyped for it. The Irishman is an ardent fan of the game and used to play soccer in his childhood days. Recently, he took to Twitter and said he might hop on his jet and attend the World Cup final. Of the 32 teams that started the tournament last month, only two remain. On Sunday, France and Argentina will compete for arguably the most coveted prize in global sports.

However, an enthusiastic McGregor said he might just go to the final venue in Qatar and “grab that World Cup.”
Conor McGregor at the World Cup final?
Conor McGregor went on another one of his serial tweeting sprees recently. Among other things, he mentioned he might go to the World Cup final in his jest and hit the ground in one of his Irish jerseys.
Ah fuck ya’s all so I goin on the p.twelve and takin’ my jet to the World Cup final. Rock my Italia 90 Irish jersey and grab that World Cup and rip up the left wing like I back playing for Lourdes and there’s a scout present. What they gonna do tackle me 😂🇮🇪
Ireland I love u ❤️— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) December 17, 2022
McGregor said he would “Rock my Italia 90 Irish jersey” from the 1990 soccer world cup in Italy. The 1990 Italia was one of the Irish soccer team’s best outings in a major international tournament. The team reached the quarter-finals.
In the spirit of soccer, McGregor said he might just sport his ’90 Irish team jersey and play along the left flank at the world cup final like he did in his days at Lourdes Celtic. ‘The Notorious’ added that he might play like there was a scout present and he had to show his potential.
Towards the end of the tweet, McGregor said, “what they gonna do tackle me.”
It seems like the upcoming final made McGregor nostalgic about his country’s 1990 run as he signed off the tweet saying “Ireland I love you.”
When McGregor rebuilt his childhood club
Conor McGregor used to play for the Lourdes Celtic during his boyhood days. The former UFC double champion’s passion for the beautiful game comes from having been involved in it at a young age. Back in 2020, the 34-year-old funded the renovation of their clubhouse.
In August 2020, McGregor announced his financial backing of the renovations at the clubhouse and claimed his children would one day be a part of it. His firm McGregor Sports and entertainment also sponsored the team jerseys.

On his Instagram, he wrote how the club marked the beginning of his “visualization journey.”
“I’ve often told a story of the days I used to kick a ball against a wall and run off celebrating like I’d just scored in a big stadium, with thousands of fans cheering me on. This was right inside these halls!”
Although ‘Mystic Mac’ changed sports and became an MMA icon, his love for soccer remains deep in his heart.
