This could be similar to how McGregor traded a fight inside the octagon for a fight in the boxing ring. Furthermore, another former UFC lightweight legend has spoken about his return and is excited to see the star compete again but in a different sport.

UFC lightweight legend is excited about Jose Aldo’s return
BJ Penn seems excited about the return of fellow UFC legend, Jose Aldo, to the world of combat sports. Penn tweeted, “Jose Aldo will likely make boxing debut in Dubai at Hardcore boxing event”.

After a gap of 4 months, Aldo announced his return to combat sports. The former UFC featherweight champion’s last fight was against Merab Dvalishvili 4 months ago. His decision to fight in the boxing ring is similar to McGregor’s decision to fight Floyd Mayweather back in 2017.

Jose Aldo wants to box just like Conor McGregor
Aldo spoke in an interview about boxing. The former UFC champion said that he wasn’t interested in MMA but instead, wanted to enter boxing.
“I’m trying to see the best path I’ll take right now. I won’t fight MMA, that’s for sure. I thank everybody calling me from other promotions, but I haven’t left the UFC, I remain under contract with them. I’ll see where I’ll fit… Boxing is a possibility.”

He said that he still feels young and thinks that he has a few years left in him to compete. However, these years are likely to be dedicated to the world of boxing and not MMA. Also, the former UFC champion wants to enjoy his time with his family after to the birth of his son. His professional duties have taken a backseat, with family being a priority.
