Joe Rogan often keeps quiet when it comes to his family history. Although he has talked about some of the funny bits and pieces about his personal life and history, he has been a closed shell when the subject usually arises. However, he has never backed down from revealing some stories about his grandmother. Recently, in episode #1922 of ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’, the beloved color commentator revealed some details about his grandmother, who went to jail for about 6 months.
The 55-year-old UFC commentator has talked about his grandmother’s imprisonment quite a few times. However, he once again refreshed his memories as he talked about how he used to ask his folks about his grandmother’s whereabouts.

During the conversation in the podcast with Sam Golbach and Colby Brock, the podcaster stumbled upon the topic of supernatural experiences. He revealed that his grandmother could talk to ghosts. However, she wouldn’t bother Rogan, as he was a little kid back then. Immediately after, Rogan said that his grandmother was a crazy woman. But what surprised the guests was the fact that she had been to prison for 6 months.

Rogan said, “Yeah, my grandmother was nuts. She was a wild lady. She went to jail for bookmaking. Yeah, she was running numbers for the mob. And she wouldn’t give up the mob until they put her in jail for 6 months. So it would always be like ‘where is Grandma?’ ‘Oh Grandma is staying with Aunt Lulu.’ She was in f**king jail! She was in jail for numbers running. Because they had, that was like the neighborhood lottery. It was the numbers.”
The podcaster was a little kid back when it happened. Unquestionably, there must be some parts of the story he doesn’t remember. Nevertheless, the UFC commentator’s love for his grandmother was still soaring high.
Joe Rogan’s grandmother once defied the medicos

In the JRE MMA Show, episode #132, Rogan recalled how his grandmother proved the doctor’s prognosis wrong. He revealed that his grandmother had a stroke, and the medicos gave her only 72 hours to live. Surprisingly, the lady lived for 12 more years following the incident.
Doubtlessly, the incident was one of the traumatic experiences for Rogan. However, that didn’t stop him from learning. He said, “One thing that imparted upon me is that life is short and that you got to appreciate your health and your ability to do things now.”
