The ex-UFC star Diego Sanchez is one such close friend of Bonnar. In a recent interview, the 41-year-old refreshed his and the audience’s memory by talking about the late fighter. He even mentioned what his last message to Bonnar was before he passed away into a better world.

UFC helps the fighters grow into the best of friends

‘The Nightmare’ in an interview with Damon Martin from MMAFighting, was seen answering several questions there. Sanchez eventually started talking about his old friend Stephan Bonnar. To this memory, Martin, the host, pushed the topic to expand completely. Martin said, “Stephan was a great storyteller, he was hilarious, and he seemed like a guy that everybody loved!” This opened up the gateway to Sanchez’s emotions.

A lot of people have struggles and he had his struggles. It’s so sad for me to see him go because, at the end of his road, he was really getting his stuff together. He was putting his life together,” said the 41-year-old fighter. The fighter also recalled the “last message” he had sent to his friend.

In the message, Sanchez appreciated Bonnar for overcoming all the hurdles in his life. The late UFC fighter recalled his last message as, “Stephan, man, I’m so proud of you. I see everything you do. You got the new insurance job and you’re doing the podcast. Please let me come on and support you.

Sanchez can be seen mourning the passing away of his friend publicly. He wishes him a peaceful afterlife. It is indeed quite upsetting that such an incredible and sensitive soul had to leave the world so young.

The ex-UFC fighter last fought in the UFC back in 2020. Since then, he disappeared from MMA and came back again two years later. Since then, the fighter is reportedly in touch with Khabib Nurmagomedov’s own promotion, Eagle Fighting Championship. Diego Sanchez has even fought a bout in the championship in 2022. The 41-year-old fighter is reportedly going to put his knuckles to the test in the ‘Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship’ (BKFC).
