Recently, the UFC commentator made a visit to the ‘Oil and Whiskey’ podcast, where he had a 2-hour-long conversation. An essential part of the talk was based on Rogan’s life experiences. Towards the second half of the podcast, one of the most interesting topics of discussion was short-format content.

Joe Rogan recalls hitting back at JRE critics

In a recent appearance on the ‘Oil & Whiskey’ podcast, Rogan shared his unapologetic perspective when some indivduals asked him to shorten the length of his podcast. Moreover, Rogan made it clear that he had no intentions of sacrificing his vision for the sake of appeasing naysayers.

“There’s a lot of people. In the beginning of the podcast when I first started doing, they were like ‘you should edit your podcast. They’re too long’ and I’m like ‘Well they won’t listen if it’s too long? Don’t listen, I don’t give a f*ck. I’m gonna do it the way I want to do it.”

For the JRE host, the value of extended conversations lies in the depth of understanding they foster. With episodes often spanning three hours, he believes that genuine insights emerge when time is given to explore complex subjects and delve into the minds of his guests. Further, it’s a departure from the fast-paced, soundbite-driven media landscape we’ve grown accustomed to.

“And the way I want to do it is I want to have long conversations with people. Because I feel like when you talk to someone for three hours, which is generally the time of my podcast, the length of them in three hours, you really get to know how a person thinks. You really get into the weeds about subjects, especially like complex subjects.”

The podcaster’s vision seems to have been a success as the JRE is one of the top podcasts and personalities like Elon Musk, Kanye West, Miley Cyrus, and Jordan Peterson have appeared on it.
