Drake has the kind of money one can lose. Yes, you read that right. Because that’s the only way one can explain his many losses in the past. For instance, he once lost $275,000 when the loudmouth bruiser of the welterweight division, Colby Covington defeated his former friend, Jorge Masvidal at UFC 272.
And later on, in more recent times, Drake lost $920,000 on Israel Adesanya when Sean Strickland snatched his middleweight crown away from him. That’s almost a million dollars in just the bet alone. And now that ‘Tarzan’ has lost him the money, perhaps it only makes sense that Drake wants his money back.

So now, the Canadian star has gone ahead and bet $700,000 on the American fighter. Clearly, there’s a lot riding on Strickland’s performance for the star. However, the past has been interesting. A theory that whoever Drake bets on, loses has been rather rampant online.
Call it a conspiracy theory, a jinx, or just a pattern that keeps on repeating. Many-a-times, once Drake bets on an athlete or a team, they would go on to lose. And it isn’t just with the UFC, he’s lost money on big stars spanning many sports.

The Drake curse
Apart from the aforementioned fighters in the UFC, Drake has also lost an insane amount to the UFC’s greatest showman, Conor McGregor. When McGregor went up against Jose Aldo, Drake had bet $500,000 on the reigning champion. Just to see ‘The Notorious’ quickly defeat in less than a minute!

It was almost as if Drake picked up a large sum of cash and was robbed soon as he stepped away from the ATM machine. And this wasn’t the only time, the Drake curse goes deeper than just bets. In fact, if the artist collaborates with or supports any team, a lot of the time, they just lose, often against he odds. Like when Serena Williams, the tennis superstar, lost to Roberta Vinci after having much of Drake’s love and support. Will Strickland meet a similar fate?
