Dustin Poirier is one of the most impressive lightweight fighters in the history of MMA. Arguably Poirier will be recognized as one of the greatest of all time. The “Diamond” has proved himself with back-to-back wins over former champions like Conor McGregor, Eddie Alvarez, Max Holloway, and Anthony Pettis. He boasts a beautiful record of 27-6-0, 1 NC in his career yet. As of October 2021, Poirier is the #1 Lightweight contender in the UFC.
Apart from being one of the best fighters in the world, he is also a philanthropist who runs a charitable foundation called The Good Fight Foundation. Dustin has always been involved in volunteer work and giving back to the community.
Recently, Dustin Poirier appeared in an interview with Patrick Bet-David and discussed his thoughts on a variety of topics. One fighter they discussed was the retired legendary fighter, Khabib Nurmagomedov. He praised Nurmagomedov’s fighting ability and his understanding of grappling. He said, “It’s the best I’ve ever seen”.

When asked if he was confident he’d beat Khabib if they had a rematch in 2022, the ‘Diamond‘ replied-“I’m very confident, I could beat anybody in the world. Anybody in the world.” This was a pretty ironic statement to make as he lost to ‘The Eagle’ when they faced off at UFC 242. Dustin then went on and showed his humble side. He said, “But at the same time I’m honest with myself and I understand that this is combat sports, and I could lose to anyone as well.”
Dustin remains his true, confident self. He avoids trash talk, unlike most fighters who put on a facade. In fact, he appears to give credit to Khabib when it is due.

This fight will give Poirier the opportunity to claim the UFC lightweight championship title by the end of the year. A victory over Oliveira would cap off an incredible year for Poirier. This year, the Louisiana native has had a fantastic run, beating Conor McGregor twice. Poirier’s next fight, at UFC 269, will be his second title shot in his UFC career.
