Fans Rally Behind Jorge Masvidal’s “Solid Answer” to Joe Rogan on UFC Retirement: “I Don’t Need to Go Into the Ring to Find Out”

Jorge Masvidal has reigned upon the BMF throne for years now. He also became one of the most feared fighters inside the Octagon. His journey with the UFC has continued for a long time. However, the 38-year-old mixed martial artist has been seemingly going strong. But when Joe Rogan asked about the fighter’s age in the recent episode of JRE MMA Show, he couldn’t steer away from wondering about Masvidal’s retirement plans. 

Surprisingly, ‘Gamebred’ had a reply ready for the famed podcaster. He responded with a wise reply and took the UFC world down with a feather. The former welterweight champion said that he would retire when he would be no longer able to keep up with his gym mates. Without a doubt, the answer impressed the fans as they rallied behind the ‘Gamebred Fighter’.

In episode #137 of JRE MMA Show, Rogan invited Masvidal to the set. Undeniably, as the fighter has been in his late 30s, Rogan asked him about his retirement plans. Masvidal answered that he would retire when he would no longer be able to keep up with ‘the pack’ at the American Top Team. Furthermore, he said that he didn’t want to be a stepping stone for anyone.

Then, Masvidal talked about Johnny Eblen and the training sessions he has with the Bellator fighter. He said that although there were days when he stood his ground against Eblen, he would quit when he got worse in the sessions. “So, the times that I start to just get the worser end of the sessions, it’s time for me to hang it up,” said Masvidal.

Finally, the fighter believed that didn’t need to get inside the arena to find out if he needs to retire. He said, “I don’t need to go into the ring to find out. Once I can’t keep up with the pack no more, I know my time has come. And it’s going to hurt like f**k, because this is all I’ve known. This is my first, my last love. This is my everything. But, at the same time, I’m not going to do a disservice to my body and let guys beat me that could have never held my jockstrap probably, during my prime, you know. So, that, that’ll be when I call it quits. Once the gym is telling me like hey, you know, your time has come, I’m cool with it, you know. I just f**king gracefully bow out.”

Masvidal’s answer impressed fans

As the video clip traveled to Instagram, the fans were quick to take to the comments and reveal how impressed they were with Masvidal’s reply. Almost every single fan found the answer to be a great one. Moreover, some of the fans believed the fighter had developed an enlightened and wise attitude.
