Former Dual Weight Champion Conor McGregor Dropped From UFC Rankings After 6 Years; Paddy Pimblett’s Wait for LW Top 15 Continuous

Fans all know Conor McGregor as one of the biggest superstars, a poster boy of the UFC. However, the first UFC two-division champion hasn’t had the best of times recently. He has had a terrible fall from grace. Moreover, he has found himself in the mud even outside the octagon. Once one of the most cheered fighters faced a lot of backlash due to his antics.

The Notorious‘ started his UFC career with a bang, winning his first seven fights for the promotion. Moreover, he lost his first fight in his eighth battle in the octagon which was against Nate Diaz. However, he won his second fight against the ‘Stockton Slugger’ with a majority decision.

Furthermore, McGregor became the first fighter to win two division titles simultaneously with his win over Eddie Alvarez. Everything was going smoothly for the ‘Mystic Mac’ until he faced Floyd Mayweather. He felt there was a challenge good enough for him and he decided to pursue a multi-million boxing fight against ‘Money’. After his loss against him, everything has gone downhill in his career and personal life.

Conor McGregor slips out of the top 15 UFC lightweight fighter rankings

Once the number one ranked fighter for both lightweight and bantamweight divisions has now slipped far behind. McGregor surprisingly has found himself outside the top 15 lightweight fighters ranking.

As per John Morgan, Editor-in-chief of the UG and host of the MMA Road Show podcast, McGregor is no longer featured in the official rankings. He wrote, “McGregor has dropped out of the top 15, though he is in pool of athletes eligible to be ranked by the panel.

After he fought Mayweather, McGregor faced Khabib Nurmagomedov, his arch-nemesis in the octagon return. He was defeated in the famed fight.

However, while McGregor is out, Paddy Pimblett still isn’t in the rankings.

When McGregor decided to retire

Conor McGregor announced his retirement after his fight against ‘The Eagle’. However, it was temporary, he soon made his return at UFC 246 against Donald Cerrone. That was a welterweight fight, and Conor McGregor looked quite sharp.

However, once he returned to the lightweight division, things took a different turn. McGregor’s fight against Dustin Poirier saw him lose with a second-round knockout.

He faced the ‘Diamond’ again in their third battle, which ended with a horrific leg break in the second round.
