The emotional announcement came after Max Holloway stopped ‘The Korean Zombie’ and prevailed in the battle of forward pressure and firm chins at UFC Singapore. The headliner was the perfect entertainment recipe for the fans: a high-paced action fight with fireworks on offer. However, they didn’t realize a moving revelation awaited them.

‘Blessed’ Max Holloway came into the fight after brushing aside another surging contender in Arnold Allen. Meanwhile, ‘The Korean Zombie’ last fought Alexander Volkanovski and failed to capture the featherweight strap. A win against the Hawaiian fighter meant another shot at the gold for the South Korean fighter. However, he failed to get past the gatekeeper of the 145-pound division.

Notably, the Hawaiian fighter won the fight via knockout in round three.

What happened in the fight at UFC Singapore?

Both fighters gauged each other, but it was ‘The Korean Zombie’ who drew the first shot and banked on his power to get the job done. Holloway also returned the favor, mixing the shots, switching stances, and feinting. The two didn’t shy away from meeting in the middle of the octagon, and ‘The Korean Zombie’ had sudden forward outbursts that troubled Holloway.

In round two, The Korean Zombie had some tough moments. Holloway caught him lacking and then tried to finish the fight on the mat. However, The Korean Zombie fought his way back to his feet. When the fight resumed on the feet, The Korean Zombie landed heavy blows on Holloway, and the two traded shots throughout the second round.

In the third round, The Korean Zombie came out, all guns blazing, and pushed Holloway to the cage, but Holloway bid his time and landed a critical right hand amid the barrage of punches. That right hand flatlined The Korean Zombie and ended the fight. But there was no loss of respect, as Holloway helped his opponent receive medical aid.

In the post-fight interview, The Korean Zombie said, “You know, I’m gonna stop fighting.”
