At UFC Vegas 24, Robert Whittaker won his much-anticipated fight against Kelvin Gastelum. The former UFC champion claimed the win via a 50-45 unanimous decision. The fight was very important regarding the middleweight division as ‘The Reaper’ needed the win to all but seal his spot as the next contender for the divisional title.
Following his victory, ‘The Reaper’ called out UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya. Whittaker talked about how this victory proved he is ready to take on the champ again. The Australian fighter had first faced ‘The Last Stylebender’ at the UFC 243 event in 2019.
Adesanya claimed a sensational finish and dethroned Whittaker to become the champion. Following that, ‘Bobby Knuckles’ has gone on a lengthy win streak without being troubled. Hence, he seemed very pleased and talked about some new tricks he has up his sleeves for a rematch.

This caught the champion’s attention, and Adesanya posted his reaction to the fight on Twitter. He wrote, “Good job, my son.”

The main event could have ended way earlier, as Whittaker had hit the beautiful one-two and head kick combo that stunned Gastelum. However, the pattern was established as Whittaker controlled proceedings throughout to go 3-0 since losing the belt.
Whittaker performed admirably, and he showed he deserves a title shot. And Adesanya’s reply to Whittaker makes it seem like the champion has an interest in Whittaker. With the kinds of performances Whittaker is putting on, an eventual title match is almost confirmed.
