Jorge Masvidal, without a shadow of a doubt, is one of the most fan-favorite fighters in the UFC. Gamebread, in the past few years, has experienced the peak of success in his career. Despite suffering several losses recently, he still manages to be one of the biggest draws in the game. 

Moreover, it’s the longevity of his career, right from backyard fighting days to being a certified needle mover that has helped him build a connection with his fans.

However, Gamebred has also had his fair share of controversies. Recently, former UFC middleweight, Chael Sonnen, took to his YouTube channel to discuss one of his,[Masvidal] previous standout moments.

Young Jorge Masvidal behaved unsportsmanlike

Sonnen, on his social media platform, mentioned the time when the BMF champion took on former UFC welterweight, Steve Berger. Furthermore, the American gangster emphasized on the unsportsmanlike behavior that Masvidal displayed during the fight.

Sonnen said, “Masvidal is fighting Berger, gets on top of him. So they’re in guard, Berger is in guard. Masvidal looks up, he’s holding Berger down. He looks up and begins to have a conversation with a ring card girl.”

Uncle Chael further added, “so he comes back to Berger and starts pounding. He pops up again and then I believe he asked her for her phone number. I mean, like this was theater, this was a show, but nothing like this has been done.”

Sonnen concluded the incident by saying, “this is the most unsportsmanlike piece of theater that’s ever happened in the sports of MMA.”

Chael Sonnen wanted to book Masvidal against Nick Diaz

Uncle Chael then goes on to talk about how he slapped Matt Lindland and told him that he wants to book Masvidal against Nick Diaz. The throwback story gave an insight into the person Masvidal has been since day one. Upfront and an absolute showman.
