The UFC 284 main event started with Jimmy Crute taking on Alonzo ‘Atomic’ Menifield. The light heavyweight bout saw the two fighters battling it out inside the octagon for a win for different reasons. Both fighters had contrasting times before the start of the fight. Crute was on a two-fight losing streak. On the other hand, Menifield was on a two-fight win streak. Moreover, the fans expected a banger of a fight at the start of the main event at UFC 284. The last two fights of the fighters ended in finishes.

The fight was back and forth all throughout the three rounds. However, the fight was so well-balanced as the judges deemed fit to end it in a draw. Moreover, the fans have given their opinion on the fight between Crute and Menifield.

Joe Rogan and fans react to Crute vs Menifield, ending in a draw

The fight started with an early takedown for Crute. The 26-year-old was able to hold ‘Atomic’ on the ground for some time. Crute followed his game plan right from the go. There were multiple submission attempts from the Australian as the crowd cheered for him. However, the end of the round saw Crute hurt and saved by the bell.

Round 2 started with Menifield having the upper hand. There were some ground strikes from Menifield that did some damage. The crowd cheered Crute as he showed resilience. However, Menifield had more control throughout the round. But Crute had his moments with a knee strike and a takedown in the round. The round ended with Crute trying to grapple and submit ‘Atomic’.

Round 3 started as both fighters seem to have used a majority of the portion of their gas tank. The fence grab by Menifield saw Marc Goddard take a point off from ‘Atomic’. Later on, Jimmy Crute secured a takedown on ‘Atomic’. The fight ended with both fighters striking each other.

The fans reacted to the back-and-forth fight as the match finally ended in a majority draw. The fighters in the post-fight interview agreed to “run it back”. Moreover, this can be due to the significant strike difference between the fighters. Menifield had 70 while Crute had 17 significant strikes.

Furthermore, Joe Rogan said during the fight in his podcast, “He Can Be F***d Right Now”.
