Jon Jones is one fighter who divided the masses like no other. While some are diehard fans, others like to point out the hiccups within his career. His rivalry with Daniel Cormier was highly talked about. However, his run-in with the law and his fight tactics, too, have been subjects of discussion.

His fight against Quinton Jackson back in 2011 was an exciting one. With such skilled fighters in the ring, fans had a blast watching them fight. ‘Bones’ won the fight through submission and successfully kept his light heavyweight title.

In a podcast episode from a few months back, ‘Rampage’ spoke about his bout with Jones. Jackson has some great things to say about his former opponent. According to him, Jones has a ‘strong’ mind. Further, he also pointed out certain tactics Jones used while fighting and called him a dirty fighter.

Jackson said, “He’s the dirtiest fighter. … They had to change the rules because of him. When I fought him, whenever I was, whenever I was like have any type of advantage, he’ll put his fingers in my eye.”

Demonstrating what Jones would do, Jackson said, “How uncomfortable is this right here? … Your eyeball is your weakest thing on your body. So when I was fighting, he was like this the whole time. It’s hard to train for this too. … He poked me in the eye.”

Jackson also spoke about how Jones would kick his knee when he would come forward.

When will Jon Jones return?

Jones gave up his light heavyweight title to move to the heavyweight. He last fought at UFC 247 in 2020.

He has been preparing for a move to the heavyweight division. However, there isn’t much clarity about when he will be back.

In the same podcast, Jackson also spoke about how the fighter might fare at the heavier division. He feels that Jones could do a good job against the smaller heavyweights. But fighters like Francis Ngannou or Ciryl Gane pose a problem. Getting hit by Ngannou would definitely be dangerous. Though with Ngannou’s ongoing issues with the promotion and uncertainty regarding Jon Jones’ comeback, it looks like fans would have to wait longer.
