The UFC 294 cards may be in trouble but Dana White keeps his spirits high. Both, the main and the co-main cards got compromised overnight. The much-hyped Khamzat Chimaev vs. Paulo Costa fight had to be modified because of Costa’s grievous elbow injury.

The fighter would later comment on White’s Instagram post to give fans an update about his condition. Promises were made and the fighter made once again them as well. However, the card changes have shown that medical issues have overcome words in the past. So, what can we expect from Costa going forward? Here’s the whole story.

The fighter had earlier shown up on The MMA Hour show with Ariel Helwani. There, Costa had a bandaged right arm that had just gone through surgery. It was then that Costa maintained that he was still going to show up to the fight.

It was later revealed that an infection had spread within the wound making the situation even more complicated. Before things could fall in place, Costa had to pull out. He was then quickly replaced by another interesting contestant, Kamaru Usman. However, it looks like Dana White and Co. has taken good care of their fighter through his rough patch.

“The card still Huge ! I’m hospitalized right now thanks @danawhite and all @ufc for all medical support. I will be back soon,” ‘Borrachinha’ commented under White’s announcement post. Clearly, the fighter is still looking to give the fight to Chimaev. However, the beef and the controversy with the fight doesn’t sit well together.

Both the main fights had to be modified because of a severe injury after months of buildup. In fact, Costa was even pulled from his last fight against Robert Whittaker. Many believed that the UFC wanted Chimaev vs. Costa so badly, his earlier fight was called off. Now, White has to deal with the new modifications with as much grace as he can summon.

Dana White took to his social media handles in his same old announcement style. This time, the UFC Boss looked a little bit tired and a tiny bit less enthusiastic about everything that was going on. Obviously, both the main fights for the mega pay-per-view getting changed took its toll.

“. . . you’ve been waiting for the co-main event,” White started in his video. “Costa’s hurt, you know all the rumors that are flying around. We got it done. So, the number four welterweight in the world Khamzat Chimaev is moving up to middleweight and he will face the number one welterweight in the world, Kamaru Usman . . . I will see you in Abu Dhabi.”

Clearly, White is trying to keep the morale up while going through a tough time. In the meantime, fans are hoping that Costa recovers quickly because pulling out of two fights in a row may just be too much for a fighter his stature. Once his elbow and morale recover, do you think ‘Borrachinha’ will be back in action against ‘Borz’? Only time will tell.
