The UFC 292 proved to be a life-changing event for the current UFC Bantamweight champ, Sean O’Malley. The ‘Sugar’ stunned the entire UFC world by finishing off his opponent, Aljamain Sterling, via a TKO in just the second round of the bout. Apart from crowning himself as UFC’s new Bantamweight champion, O’Malley’s superb victory also placed him in comparison with the noted UFC icon, Conor McGregor.

It was the former UFC champ-champ and current UFC commentator, Daniel Cormier, who drew the lines between the finishes of McGregor and O’Malley. ‘DC’ pointed out that there was a lot of similarity between how McGregor knocked out Jose Aldo at UFC 194 and the way in which ‘Sugar’ finished off Sterling. Apart from this, several fans might also agree that O’Malley has a fighting style that is comparable to McGregor. But, most UFC fans know that O’Malley is an American native whereas McGregor grew up in Dublin, Ireland. Then how does he possess a fighting style comparable to ‘Mystic Mac’?

Well, looking at the places where these two were born and brought up, it’s hard to imagine that there will be any connection between the two. O’Malley is an American native who was born and brought up in Helena, Montana. While McGregor spent his entire childhood in Dublin, Ireland.

But, O’Malley and McGregor both prefer green shorts for their fights. This might also serve as another indicator for the fans that these two might have something common in them. Actually, their connection is very much related to the color Green as it stands as an emblem of Ireland. Most UFC fans are probably unaware of the fact that O’Malley also has Irish roots like McGregor.

Although Sean’s father, Dan O’Malley, and his mother have been in America for most of the time in their life. It is his grandmother who has Irish descent. But, nothing more can be said in this regard. There’s no more information available about O’Malley’s grandmother.

The post-UFC 292 press conference stands as proof of the similar interests of these two fighters with Irish roots. Most UFC fans are already aware of how the UFC gave McGregor an exemption from his contract for his coveted boxing match against Floyd Mayweather. At the post-UFC 292 press conference, ‘Sugar’ also revealed that he had a similar interest.

One of the reporters questioned him about who would be his next opponent. While most UFC fans assumed that O’Malley will call out one of his fellow UFC Bantamweights. He shocked them by calling out the noted boxer, Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis.
