Conor McGregor and Joe Rogan recently made headlines with their public feud over steroids. The UFC commentator suggested McGregor had resorted to using steroids to recover from his injury. McGregor’s absence from the USADA testing pool did not help his case, either. The brash Irishman, unsurprisingly, went after Rogan on Twitter for making such allegations. However, the noise seems to have died down as both have not fired shots at the other in a while. Now, Rogan has come forward stating certain situations in the fight game that make him a fan of McGregor’s approach to USADA.
The world’s leading podcast host recently had a chat with retired UFC veteran Paul Felder on JRE MMA Show #135. While discussing all things fighting, they landed on the topic of injuries and recovery. The pair reminisced about the various injuries and how people recovered from those.

Why does Joe Rogan support Conor McGregor leaving the USADA pool?
While discussing injuries, Felder told Rogan that his hip had always been a problem. ‘The Irish Dragon’ predicted that his hip would be the first to go when his injuries caught up to him. Rogan asked his guest if he had tried stem cells and mentioned UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling’s recent health update.

Rogan said, “Aljamain is trying to avoid bicep surgery. He has a torn biceps, and he is going to Colombia right now… because they’re trying to get him to fight Henry Cejudo in April. So, here we are right now in February. We got March, April. I don’t like it.”
He further added, “This is where I’m a big fan of the Conor McGregor approach to avoiding the USADA testing pool.”

Speaking further, Rogan and Paul compared McGregor’s recovery to others who had similar injuries.
What Rogan and Felder said about McGregor’s recovery
Commenting on McGregor’s recovery outside the USADA pool, Rogan said, “I don’t know what Conor did. I don’t know what’s happening when he’s outside that pool, but I’ve never seen a guy get that big before.”

Felder expressed his surprise at how McGregor “recovered from a broken shin like it was nothing.” In comparison, he talked about Luke Rockhold and Chris Weidman. Rockhold still wears shin sleeves after troubles with staph infections. Weidman had more complications after his surgery to repair his broken leg.
In comparison with these athletes, McGregor had a much better recovery in two years’ time.
