Jorge Masvidal is only just days away from making his UFC return. The UFC’s one and only BMF has been out of action since his loss to Colby Covington at UFC 272 in March 2022. In just under two weeks, Masvidal will step into the octagon against fellow welterweight Gilbert Burns in the co-main event of UFC 287.

With just days away from his fight, ‘Gamebred’ sat down for a chat with MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani. During their conversation, the 39-year-old discussed his rivalry with Covington and his comments on Jon Anik. Furthermore, they also discussed Masvidal’s upcoming ‘Gamebred boxing’ event.

Later, their conversation concerned the current UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards and Masvidal’s rivalry with the Englishman. While discussing Edwards and the possibility of a future fight against him, Masvidal made a somewhat snarky comment about Dana White. The East Coast gangster revealed one character trait his boss wants to take advantage of.

Masvidal said, “If you’re cool, I’m cool. If you’re not, well then f*** it! Let’s scrap. I love the fight. You know I don’t like to say too much out loud because then Dana White wants to take advantage of that- of guys like me that love to fight and actually like to do this, you know?”
He continued, “But I love the fight, so if you give me a chance to do it, whether I’m getting paid or not, I’ll probably take the bait every time.”

Masvidal and White have gotten into payment disputes in the past. In 2020, his title fight talks against Kamaru Usman fell through after the proposed paycheck did not meet ‘Gamebred’s expectations. Burns then stepped into face Usman but pulled out due to COVID-19, landing the ball in Masvidal’s court again. ‘Street Jesus’ then took the fight on short notice but came up short on UFC’s fight island in Abu Dhabi.
