The UFC 279 ended with loud applause for the legends, Nate Diaz and Tony Ferguson. But it was not originally supposed to go this way. Before entering the Octagon in the main event of Saturday at Las Vegas, Diaz was set to face the rising prospect Khamzat Chimaev.
The event was promoted around these two names. Fans were expecting something spectacular from Diaz, who some believed was close to the end of his career.

But at the last moment, especially the day before the fight, the UFC Boss turned the entire scenario to neutralize the chaos that began after Chimaev missed weight by 7.5 pounds.
To keep the event alive, the legendary fighter, Tony Ferguson, 38, entered into play on short notice.
Meanwhile, it was on Diaz, if he would like to face Ferguson or not. Since he prepared himself to tackle Chimaev, it was to his disadvantage to face another fighter, so UFC offered him an increment in his purse.
What did Nate Diaz say about his fight purse?
In the post-fight press conference, Diaz entertained the fight purse question in a hilarious way.
