It’s not news that Israel Adesanya doesn’t like Sean Strickland too much. The two are going to be ‘having a go’ at each other at UFC 293, which is going to be held on 10 September. Strickland is someone who doesn’t bite his tongue when speaking and has often found himself in a predicament for that. Adesanya is also a fighter who has recently had problems with some of the statements that he made.

Now that two of the most controversial fighters in the UFC Middleweight division are going to fight, the verbal spat between the two has begun. None of the fighters are holding back. Allegations and snide remarks are being made from both ends but at the end of the day, it all boils down to who will let their fists do the talking in the Octagon. Adesanya, who endorses PRIME alongside Alexander Volkanovski had made some remarks about Strickland signing a deal with Monster Energy and now, Strickland has taken a stand for his endorsement.

Sean Strickland defends his brand endorsement

Israel Adesanya is one of the most popular UFC fighters today. So, naturally, PRIME, a brand introduced by KSI and Logan Paul, wanted Israel Adesanya to be one of the people endorsing their brand and products, out of the UFC. UFC Featherweight champ Alexander Volkanovski is the only other fighter who has been signed on to the deal alongside the ‘Stylebender’. As of now, these two fighters are the first two people to be signed with PRIME, out of the UFC.

Sean Strickland, on the other hand, has signed a deal with Monster Energy, and that is not something that went down right with Israel Adesanya. Apparently, Adesanya had a fallout with the executive of Monster Energy and, to this day, refuses to promote and endorse their brand. However, Sean Strickland seemed perfectly fine with the deal that he signed.

A picture of Adesanya and Volkanovski promoting PRIME has been going viral on social media. Strickland reshared this picture on his X (formerly Twitter) account with a caption that read: “I only drink monster in camp when I’m cutting because im a coffee addict…… But I actually like the brand…. Motorcycles, trucks.. The only thing it’s missing is guns lol!!!!!“.

Taking things into perspective, Monster Energy is, in more ways than one, an apt brand endorsement for the personality that he carries.

Israel Adesanya calls Sean Strickland a ‘sell out’

Sean Strickland waged war against Adesanya when he questioned his ‘allegiance’, referencing the time he put the Chinese flag around his shoulders and paraded in it. “You don’t even represent your country when you fight,” said Strickland during the UFC 293 press conference.

Adesanya was not going to just sit there and take it. Talking about Strickland signing a deal with Monster Energy, he said, “When did you sign to Monster Energy? When did you sell your soul? Tell me. You sold your soul recently, right? Isn’t it funny that any time I have to fight someone, Monster signs them immediately and becomes a fan of them.“.

In the end, he just asked Strickland, “What did you have to do to sell your soul to get that deal?“. The fact of the matter is that both fighters are signed to different brands. While Adesanya has a problem with the way Monster Energy handles operations and what they expect of their fighters, Strickland finds it harmless. He has refuted all claims of him being a ‘sell out’.
