“I Was F***ing 8 Years Old”: Joe Rogan Relives the Horror of Two “Molestation Attempts”

Joe Rogan is a repository of many wild tales. The 55-year-old has tried his hand at several professions and found success in many of them. A martial artist with black belts in Judo and Jiu Jitsu, Rogan is also a stand-up comic, podcaster, and long-time UFC commentator. Rogan has gained many experiences from his various professions, many of which he talks about on his podcast. However, his most recent tale came from his childhood.

In fact, it was a rather chilling story compared to the other stories he has told before. In a recent episode of JRE, Rogan spoke about how he dodged two molestation attempts during his childhood.

Rogan hosted stand-up comic and podcaster Shane Gillis on episode #1957 of The Joe Rogan Experience. A little into their conversation, the pair started talking about sexual kinks in people. Rogan added how it has a lot to do with childhood and adolescent experiences and then remembered how he dodged two molestation attempts during his childhood.

Joe Rogan recalls a chilling story

Speaking to Gillis, Joe Rogan said, “I dodged two molestation attempts… Well, I dodged one of them when I was, I, probably, was like seven or eight years old. That was the scarier [one]… well, they were both pretty scary, but that was the scarier one.”

Rogan said the first attempt happened when he was in the public library. The former Fear Factor host recollected how a stranger approached him when he was browsing a section of the library having monster and horror books which he preferred.

He said, “I was always into horror movies and monster movies… And this guy came up to me and he goes, ‘Do you like monster books?’ I go, ‘Yeah.’ And he goes, ‘Oh, I have some monster books in my car. You want to see them?’ ‘Okay,’ like, I didn’t know any better. I was f***ing 8 years old or whatever it was.”

Luckily, the librarian saw young Rogan leaving with the man, and intervened. Rogan quoted her yelling, “Joseph, you get away from that man!… That man just got out of jail.”

As his guest sat in disbelief at the story, Rogan recounted the second encounter, which was equally horrifying.

Rogan’s second story

Joe Rogan said he was around 13 years old when he dodged a second molestation attempt. The BJJ black belt said it happened in Jamaica Plain where he used to go fishing with his friends. A stranger who used to jog around the area, and had talked to them a few times, unexpectedly became the villain of the story later on.

Rogan described him as “a super normal guy.” According to the podcaster, he was a retired teacher in his 60s. However, things got fishy when the drunk 60-year-old approached Rogan while he was fishing by himself. Rogan said, “one day it’s just me and I’m fishing and he comes by and he’s drunk. And he tells me he loves me. And I’m like super confused…”

He continued, “He tells me he loves me but here can be no love without sex. That’s what he says. And I’m like what? I had a knife. So I remember like, I grabbed my knife in my pocket. I had my hand on my knife and I was like ‘Oh my god I’m gonna have to stab this guy… Because there was no one around… I was gonna cut this guy… It was dangerous.”

Thankfully, Rogan escaped both situations safely and lived to tell the tale.
