A number of UFC fans have pointed out a few fighters multiple times for having the ‘Dana White privilege’. It basically means that once a fighter had got themselves into the good books of the boss, they would receive a few extra perks than others. The privileges often include frequent title shots and the UFC boss going all praises for the athlete in press conferences and other public platforms. Quite understandably, the majority of UFC fighters have often spoken out against this, with the latest addition being the current UFC Bantamweight kingpin, Aljamain Sterling.

Recently, at the post-UFC Vegas 73 press conference, Dana White went off on Sterling. He gave out a few harsh words for the UFC Bantamweight champ after it was reported that he wanted to withdraw from his UFC 292 bout against the famed ‘Sugar’ Sean O’Malley. But lately, ‘Funk Master’ also took to his own YouTube channel to clarify his current stance about his UFC 292 bout.

Further, Sterling accused White of being too harsh on him just due to a piece of tentative information. He was also dismayed by the fact that White always had good stuff to say about some fighters like Conor McGregor. But when it comes to the other ones like himself, the boss’ appreciation levels drop down drastically.

Aljamain Sterling wants to be awesome like Conor McGregor

In his YouTube upload, Sterling implied that he had expected a more compassionate response from White after his tentative announcement of withdrawing from his UFC 292 bout. He put out an illustration of the question White received, saying, “We see Sterling coming out and saying he’s got some lingering injuries and he’s saying that he doesn’t know how his body’s gonna hold up and respond. So, any thoughts on that?”

Following this, Sterling also revealed that he had expected White’s answer to be a bit more supportive.

‘Funk Master’ mimicked White and said, “Absolutely the fight’s done. We spoke to him. This kid always shows up to the fight, he always makes weight, he does all the media stuff. We know he’s gonna show up. Yeah, we know he just fought two weeks ago. Yeah, he’s a little banged up. But he gave us his word that he’s gonna show up for this fight. The kid’s a stud”.

‘Funk Master’ also derided how White appreciated most things that a few fighters like Conor McGregor did. But, himself accepting another title defense within three months of his previous one, failed to garner any appreciation from the boss. He stated, “Whenever Conor does something, ‘Oh my God! Isn’t he awesome’. Like, can I be awesome too? I’m not asking for much.”

Sterling’s rather unruly words about White were due to his harsh reaction after the tentative announcement he made. But since it had created a real stir-up, Sterling probably opted to clear out things once and for all. ‘Funk Master’ iterated, “Listen, I didn’t say I’m not fighting. Dana, I said I’m fighting, Hunter, I’m fighting. What else do you want me to do? So f**k, just figure this s**t out.”

All in all, a lot of fans may say that White was too early to go off on Sterling. A personal conversation between the two might have sorted things out in a lot more effective and easier way.
