Joe Rogan has had a long career in the entertainment world. He started out as a comedian in Boston and tried acting, television presentation, and commentary for the UFC. In a recent episode of his popular podcast, ‘The Joe Rogan Experience,’ the 55-year-old was talking to stand-up comedian, actress, and writer Punkie Johnson. Episode 1937 saw Rogan and Johnson discuss the early days of their careers. The conversation made Rogan remember the first time he came on the MTV set. The former Fear Factor host recalled the first time he came to California and told his guest.

Rogan remembered how he came to California in 1993. He remembered his friend Gary Valentine and him being there for a small assignment with MTV. MTV started in 1981 and was hugely popular in the early 1990s. In 2017, MTV was received in 90.6 million households across the United States.

Joe Rogan shares his first MTV experience

Talking about his first time with MTV, Rogan told Punkie Johnson, The first I came to California was in 93. I was with my friend, Gary Valentine. And we were out here to do some sh*t for MTV and we were driving around like we really here.”

Rogan further described how he felt about the experience. He added, Yeah, it was 26, and I was like, what the f**k is this place? This place is so weird. It just felt like I’m not supposed to be here or something.”

Joe Rogan: a pioneer of the podcasting industry

Joe Rogan started his podcast back in 2009. His podcast grew gradually and is one of the most popular in the world. In 2015, his podcast episodes were downloaded more than a million times. Rogan got into an exclusive deal with Spotify in 2020. While the deal was assumed to be worth USD 100 million initially, Rogan later revealed the amount to be a whopping $200 million.
