Conor McGregor is a legend both inside and outside the octagon. He became the UFC’s first simultaneous double champion, the richest sports person in the world, and is currently preparing for his Hollywood debut alongside Jake Gyllenhaal in a reboot of the action classic ‘Road House’. ‘The Notorious’ may have also had another feather in his cap, as he almost featured on a €1 coin.

However, the buzz created by this bizarre demand drew a reaction from ‘The Notorious’ one himself. McGregor tweeted an edited image of his face on a coin, saying, “The boom is BACK baby!!! #F***TheRecession.”
It would be a true honour for me to be immortalised on the €1 coin!
Thank you to my fans for the petition!Let's go Oireachtas! Vote YES 🙂— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) January 13, 2016
He had also tweeted, “It would be a true honor for me to be immortalised on the €1 coin! Thank you to my fans for the petition!Let’s go Oireachtas! Vote YES :-)”
It would have been really interesting to see the reactions if they had decided to put McGregor’s face on a national currency.
Returning McGregor to be greeted with a UFC title fight?
Conor McGregor, who has been on the sidelines since UFC 264, has been hinting at a potential return to the octagon in 2023. As ‘The Notorious’ regularly updates the MMA world with his recovery, fans have enough information to believe that he is on the right track.

Several sources, including McGregor’s manager and UFC President Dana White, have stated that the former champ will return in early 2023. McGregor’s drawing power is still unparalleled. He is still ‘the money fight’ in the promotion. As a result, we could see him make his way to a title shot.

UFC lightweight Charles ‘Do Bronx’ Oliveira expressed his interest in defending the lightweight title against McGregor in a big-money fight. However, since the UFC stripped his title for missing weight, he has to regain it. Oliveira will look to reclaim his title at UFC 280 when he faces Islam Makhachev.
If ‘Do Bronx’ can get his hand raised in Abu Dhabi, could we see a McGregor vs. Oliveira title fight on the January PPV in Brazil?
